Christen Mayer - Gulf South LGBT Chamber

Dr. Christen Mayer has fifteen years of experience working in healthcare settings that include acute care, ambulatory care, and long-term care in North Carolina, Michigan, Florida, New York, and Louisiana.

Her areas of expertise are clinical microbiology and applied epidemiology with her current positions being Director of Infection Prevention and Control for Tulane Health System and Visiting Professor of Microbiology at Chamberlain College of Nursing. She has a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a Masters of Public Health in Epidemiology and Global Communicable Diseases from the University of South Florida, and Doctorate of Public Health in Epidemiology from the University at Albany in New York.

Christen’s professional and research interests include preventing disease transmission and combating antimicrobial resistance both in healthcare settings and in the community. She holds national certifications in Infection Control, Public Health, and Medical Laboratory Sciences. She is also a Board Member of the Association of Professions in Infection Control Greater New Orleans Chapter and is an active member of the Junior League of New Orleans.

Christen actively participates in and promotes inclusion and diversity activities and awareness within her organizations, and is excited to expand those opportunities as a member of the Gulf South Chamber Board.
