Dustin Woehrmann - Gulf South LGBT Chamber

Originally from Utah, Dustin has a unique background in design, experimental animation, and illustration, which shapes his unique style and approach. After finishing grad school at CalArts with a Student Academy Nomination for his thesis animation film, he became an animator on the South Park Movie. He started his own company shortly after which has designed and produced scores of websites, videos, and brand campaigns for clients ranging from Showtime and Paramount Studios to non profits and LGBT advocate groups.

Dustin has worked in the LGBT space for over 18 years. He helped launch a once popular gay bar called, “Here Lounge,” and worked with a prominent event producer to brand and market LGBT events including gay ski weeks in Mammoth, CA and Park City, UT. In 2005, his team rebranded LA Pride as part of a multi-year marketing deal with the organization that included creating a website, ads, videos as well as animated commercials. In addition, he and his team developed the website for Outfest: Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Film Festival for 10 years and created the full brand package for the 2009 festival.

Since relocating to New Orleans, Dustin’s company, Communify, has overseen marketing initiatives for Halloween New Orleans, a yearly benefit that has been raising money for a local HIV/AIDS home for the past 35 years. The work they craft ranges from event branding to social media campaigns and production. Communify is also the LGBT agency of record for New Orleans Tourism Marketing Corp, which handles all leisure travel for the city. Communify is in their fifth year of working toward bringing more LGBTs to New Orleans, and they continue to work closely with all gay media outlets in this effort. For the past two years New Orleans has been named the “Second Most Welcoming City” in the world. Lastly, Dustin’s also chaired the Community Affairs Inclusion Committee for the recent NOLA NBA AllStars Game and Wrestlemania 34.

When Dustin and his team aren’t working on projects with an LGBT focus, they’re busy creating brand identities, websites and social media content for small to medium-sized companies.
